I am definitely no early riser, David B. Grinberg! The time change, no matter forward or back, really messes with my system. The first couple days I do fine, but after that, I struggle with focus, motivation, and endurance for at least a week.
Last year I did my best to change my internal message just before and just after the time change: “This is just fine, it’s arbitrary and doesn’t actually change anything. It’s just like traveling to a different time zone. It’s not going to affect me at all.” And yet… a week later, I started to feel like myself again. The experience was very similar to a concussion I had, which is why I can see the impact do clearly to our brain health.
